If you're like me, Mother's Day has always been one of the hardest gift-buying days of the year.  Try as I might, I'd end up a week before still racking my brain for the perfect gift.

How many times have we heard Mom say, "I don't need a gift"  or "All I need is to spend time with you" as a response to our ever-desperate pleading for a "just a hint" as to what to get those mothers in our lives?

Honestly, I believe the best gift really is the gift of quality time.  But, still.  I always wanted to bring my mom something really thoughtful, as well.  That's just me.

So, I decided to hop on over to my favorite shopping site, Amazon.com to see what unique Mother's Day gifts I could come up with at this late date.

Please note that I am an Amazon affiliate.  So if you purchase any products through the links in this blog, I may receive a small commission from that referral.  This is at no cost to you.  Please read my affiliate disclosure policy for the full details.

Mother's Day is just around the corner, so let's jump right in.  Hopefully, the ideas I came up with will be helpful.  If you'd like to do your own search, go to Amazon.com.  This page will take you to Mother's Day gifts for mom, which is separated by category.  There are gifts in just about every price range.

3 important tips when shopping on Amazon:

 1.  Make sure to only select gifts that are eligible for PrimePrime shipments come from Amazon's warehouses instead of a third-party seller.
 2.   Check the estimated shipping dates to make sure you will get the delivery in time for Mother's Day.
3.  Use the filters located on the left side of the page to narrow down your search.  For instance, I always choose "4 or more star ratings".
4.  If you're down to the wire/no time left to shop or for delivery - skip down to suggestion numbers 5,6 & 7 below for last minute gift ideas.

Okay, so here are my 7 suggestions in no particular order.

1.  Tea Time

If Mom is a tea lover, she may enjoy treating herself to a freshly brewed cup from time to time.  This teapot infuses the loose tea right inside the glass pot.  It keeps it warm and looks lovely, too.

Throw in a variety pack of teas and you've got a winner!

Tip:  For a less expensive option, switch the teapot for a one cup portable tea infuser.  This is a great option for the on-the-go mom.  There are lots of beautiful designs available.

If Mom prefers coffee, go for a pretty travel mug with a coffee sampler

Put it all in a pretty gift bag and you're all set!

2.  Flower Alternative

Instead of cut flowers, why not potted cacti?   (This photo may be different than the link.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see more choices and comparisons).
  •  Easy care/almost no maintenance (especially if Mom has a less-than-green thumb).
  •  She can use them as indoor plants or plant them in her garden.

3.  Here Comes the Sun

Does Mom love to golf, hike or bike?  Maybe she loves the beach?  Moms who love the outdoors will appreciate some tasteful sun-protection.  I found so many cute sun hats with SPF protection like this one - which is a cross between a visor and a hat.  I love the nice wide brim and the fact that it will stay on even in the wind.

Or...how about protecting those hands and arms from the sun?
These sun protection sleeves have SPF protection built in.
They come in a few plain colors or patterned designs.  They're great if you get caught outside in short sleeves.  I like the fact that they cover the hands to help prevent those ugly sunspots.

Add a pair of sunglasses, a water bottle, some sunscreen and/or lip balm with SPF and you've got a whole theme gift going on.

4.  Sentiment Jewelry

This one's a bit tricky.  Normally I don't recommend buying jewelry for anyone unless you really know the recipient's taste but I found some nice sentiment jewelry.  There are bracelets, necklaces and even key chains specifically from sons or daughters. I even found an item or two for Grandmothers, Step-Moms or Mothers-in-Law.  Most of the options were sterling silver but I did find a few other choices.

THE FINAL THREE:  LAST-MINUTE GIFTS

The final three ideas are great last-minute gifts.  They are all subscriptions that you can sign up for right online.  Each has a free trial and can be canceled any time.

Make a little DIY coupon, put it inside a Mother's Day card.  Top it off with a little bow or a single rose.  Good to go!
See descriptions & links below

5.  Book Lovers

Is Mom an avid reader?  She may enjoy listening to her books at times when it's not possible to sit down and read.  That's where a subscription to Audible comes in.  This is a great choice for anyone with a long commute.  Mom can listen to her choice of books while driving, cooking, working on a hobby, etc.

6.  Music Lovers

Similar to Audible.com, with Amazon Music Unlimited Mom can listen to her favorite music on any device.  She can try it for Free for 30 days and cancel any time.

This one is my personal favorite!  It's called Britbox.  If your mom is a fan of PBS or BBC America, she may really enjoy Britbox.  They have many old shows as well as new.  Everything from Dramas to Comedies to Mysteries.

I recently subscribed to this channel and I'm in Heaven!  When I have a little "me time", I like to make myself a cup of tea and binge on my favorite British shows. Brilliant!

Well, that's it for this year's gift ideas for Mother's Day.  I hope this list sparked your imagination and you found some inspiration for Mom's Special Day.

Wishing you and yours a Happy Mother's Day!

  1. Really cool list! I had to do a last minute gift for my mother for Christmas and got a subscription for Texture, the netflix of magazines. I feel like I would have done better to use your list. LOL
